Go on. Admit it. Who doesn't enjoy a deliciously placed expletive sometimes? 'Strong language,' when used tactically, can provide great impact for readers, build characters, or create a brilliant comic moment. We ask writers to consider when curse words and disses can be useful for narratives and dialogue, and how writers can employ them for a %^&#ing great effect.

A graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts and the University of Buffalo, Sharul Channa is Singapore’s first Indian female stand-up comic. She has performed at MGM Macau, The Comedy Club KL, Comedy Kao Kao, PJ Laugh Fest 2013, One Mic Stand, The Comedy Lounge in both Perth and Sydney, the George Town Festival 2013 and Weirdass Pajama Festival 2014. She also produced and performed a sold-out two-person show in Singapore titled ‘The Rishi and Sharul Show’.Sharul Chana is featured in the following SWF event(s):

Jorge Franco Ramos was born in Medellín, Colombia. His novel Rosario Tijeras (1999) marked the emergence of one the most promising writers of new Latin American narrative. He also wrote Paraíso Travel, Melodrama, and El Mundo De Afuera, which won the Premio Alfaguara in 2014. 2018's EL Cielo A Tiros is perhaps his most profound and accomplished work to date.
