NANG is a biannual print magazine about the cinemas of Asia. Its third issue is devoted to fiction inspired by Asian movies across the ages and genres. Nineteen stories and comics were selected. Some are fan fiction while others use the experience of watching or engaging with the films themselves as part of the narrative. Join this panel discussion with publisher Davide Cazzaro, issue editor Amir Muhammad, and issue contributors Wiwat Lertwiwatwongsa, Mina Cruz and Edwin Kho. They will discuss how movie-watching informs the creation of fiction.
Amir Muhammad is a Malaysian publisher, writer and occasional filmmaker. His publishing company Buku Fixi was established in 2011 to focus on urban pulp fiction, and has to date published more than 150 books in Malay and English. His other company, Matahari Books, focuses on creative non-fiction, and will release three titles this year. His films and documentaries have been screened at numerous film festivals and, as a bonus, two of them are banned in Malaysia.Amir Muhammad is featured in the following SWF event(s):
Mina Cruz started working on film productions in 2009, taking on different tasks from production management to production design, special effects makeup and assistant directing. Currently, she acts for various independent productions, writes her own scripts, and directs her own films. Her film Recurrencia was screened at the Montreal Underground Film Festival 2017, and was awarded second place at the Gawad Alternatibo 2017 in the experimental category.

His latest work can be found in Little Basket 2016, Chronicles of KK, Little Basket 2017, and Comixology.
Davide Cazzaro is the publisher and editor-in-chief of NANG magazine - a print-only publication launched in early 2016 through his small publishing venture Cinemasias Editions. Originally from Venice, Italy, he is currently based in Seoul, Korea. His background is in film criticism and research and for a number of years he has been specializing in Asian cinema as well as in independent publishing.
