Volunteer at SWF 2023

We are looking for courteous, committed, and responsible individuals who are keen to interact with new people and play a key role in ensuring the festival operates smoothly. A positive working and learning attitude is always appreciated and we will do our best to provide a supportive and welcome environment.

All SWF volunteers are crucial to the festival’s success as they will take on the roles of festival ambassadors and be a welcoming face that anyone can approach for queries and help.

General Requirements

• Applicants must be Singaporean/PR (Non-Singaporeans/PRs may apply, subject to pass conditions)
• Aged 18 and above (as of September 2023)
• Comfortable with interacting with people
• Proactive and takes initiative
• Possess a customer service attitude
• Able to handle some physical work and irregular hours

Compulsory Volunteer Briefing/Site Recce

All volunteers are required to attend a compulsory briefing on 28th October 2023 to learn more about the festival, its venues, roles and standard operating procedures.

Festival Operations

Volunteers will be rostered into shifts depending on their availability as indicated on the signup form. Meal allowances will be provided should shifts cross mealtimes (min. 5 hours a shift), and transport reimbursement will be allowed for shifts that end past 11.30pm or commence before 7.00am

ROLES

Front–of-House Support

Front-Of-House Assistant
You will be posted at the Festival venues to assist with ticket scanning, registration for the special on – site programmes, ushering, crowd control, implementing and managing safe management measures, and attending to patrons’ queries.

Information Counter Assistant
You will be posted at The Arts House to assist with answering queries from the general public and patrons arriving for their programmes. ICA volunteers will also help maintain the Information Counter set up and update the relevant information boards.


Author Logistics

Author Liaison Officer
As key point of contact for the authors taking part in SWF, you will manage transport coordination to/fro hotel and accommodations as well as provide support for their official engagements with the festival. As a representative of SWF, you will be vital in ensuring that the authors’ needs are well communicated to the relevant parties in charge and reasonably managed, in line with the festival’s policies.

Authors/Moderators Registration Counter Assistant
You will be posted at The Arts House to assist with the registration of authors when they arrive for their programmes, issuance of their passes and festival merchandise. The assistants will also help maintain the inventory of these paraphernalia.

Hospitality Assistant
You will be required to assist with hospitality requirements for the authors, which includes the setting up and teardown of the festival’s designated green room, managing inventories, assist with purchases and any other adhoc hospitality requests that the festival accommodates.

Festival Support

Secretariat Assistant
You will be stationed at the Festival Secretariat which functions as the nerve centre for the festival, all volunteers and relevant stakeholders. With a keen eye for detail, you will support the Secretariat with volunteers’ schedules, deployments and welfare, work closely with the working teams’ managers, and maintain records and documentations where necessary. You may also be required to step in to replace manpower if needed!

All volunteers who are selected to support SWF 2023 are greatly appreciated and will receive the following as tokens of appreciation:

• Complimentary vouchers (voucher denominations will be based on shift durations)
• Complimentary SWF 2023 Merchandise (festival’s choice)
• E-Certificate of Participation
