About

As combat sports athletes slug it out and face the wrong end of a punch, how are they rewriting narratives about triumph and loss, and what kind of kinship does martial arts have with the literary arts in a nation where pragmatism is so highly prized? Featuring Singaporean martial artists whose stories were captured in Choke, Clinch, Crank, Combat (CCCC), we speak to local legends including Singapore’s first UFC fighter Royston Wee, Jed Foo, an athlete who navigates visual disability, and WBC Asia Featherweight Champion, Amanda Chan.

These are the stories they tell with their bodies.

This session also features a capoeira demonstration by Tucum and Baiana Santos from CCCC. Tucum Santos is the founder of FlowArtes, your Brazilian home in Singapore.
