Five years ago, these comedians took the country by storm with the first-ever combined showcase of their unique talents. They have all since carved out spaces in the worlds of comedy and showbiz, with appearances on Comedy Central, MediaCorp channels and overseas. But their hearts, their souls and, most importantly, their comedy minds are first and foremost Singaporean. Catch the unique mix of comedy styles from The Sons of Singapore – Fakkah Fuzz, Jinx Yeo and Rishi Budhrani – hosted by the honorary Daughter of Singapore, Sharul Channa, as they tackle issues close to the hearts of Singaporeans. There will be a post-show dialogue discussing the craft of comedy writing.
Fakkah Fuzz is one of the fastest-rising talents in the Singapore comedy scene. The winner at Stand Up for Singapore in 2012 and 2013, he spearheaded and headlined the stand-up comedy show Sons of Singapore in 2012. He was the first runner-up at Super Spontan Upsize in 2015.
After being fired from his father’s tailoring business, Rishi Budhrani used all that leftover material to make history by becoming the first Singaporean to win the Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and perform at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. He has since performed in Australia, India, Sri Lanka and China. He featured in Comedy Central Asia’s TV showcase ‘Stand-up Asia’, and is a regular panellist/writer for live comedy panel show ‘OK Chope!’.Rishi Budhrani is featured in the following SWF event(s):
Jinx Yeo’s hard-hitting punchlines, effortless delivery, and clever material won him first runner-up at the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival (2011) and finalist at the America Meet World Global Comedy Competition (2014). Last year, Jinx became the first-ever Singaporean comedian to take his solo show to major international festivals such as Fringe World, Adelaide Fringe, and the Edinburgh Fringe. He has performed in 16 countries over three continents.
A graduate of Lasalle College of the Arts and the University of Buffalo, Sharul Channa is Singapore’s first Indian female stand-up comic. She has performed at MGM Macau, The Comedy Club KL, Comedy Kao Kao, PJ Laugh Fest 2013, One Mic Stand, The Comedy Lounge in both Perth and Sydney, the George Town Festival 2013, and Weirdass Pajama Festival 2014. She also produced and performed a sold-out two-man show in Singapore titled The Rishi and Sharul Show.
