Featuring: Ng Yi-Sheng and M Shan
Published by: Epigram Books
This programme will feature a duo of debut short-story collections by award-winning poet Ng Yi-Sheng (Lion City) and veteran writer M Shan (Marriage and Mutton Curry). These diverse stories offer a quirky and intriguing look at what “home” and belonging means to the authors. The panellists will talk about their own communities and reflections that inspired their stories, with each writer reading an excerpt from his story. There will also be a book signing.
Ng Yi-Sheng is a poet, playwright, fiction writer, journalist, researcher and LGBT+ activist. He won the Singapore Literature Prize 2008 for his debut poetry collection, last boy. Other works include the non-fiction book SQ21: Singapore Queers in the 21st Century, a novelisation of the film Eating Air, the poetry collections Loud Poems for a Very Obliging Audience and A Book of Hims, and his newly published short story collection Lion City.
