Zadie Smith discusses her new collection of essays written in the early days of lockdown. How can we think ourselves through this historical moment? What does it mean to submit to a new reality or resist it? What is the relationship between time and work? In our isolation, what do other people mean to us?

FEATURING

 Zadie Smith is an award-winning English author best known for White Teeth, her debut novel receiving numerous accolades including the Whitbread First Novel Award. Voted as one of the 125 most important books of the last 125 years by the New York Public Library, White Teeth has also been translated into over twenty languages and adapted for both television and stage. Other notable works by Smith include 2006 Orange Prize for Fiction winner On Beauty and the novel NW. Smith also writes regularly for The New Yorker and the New York Review of Books. She is currently a tenured professor of Creative Writing at New York University.
