We all use language to convey our thoughts and feelings. But sometimes linguistic and cultural barriers present challenges, and language falls short. How do writers navigate the inadequacy of language. When language doesn't suffice, what else do we need?

Oil painter, animator, and comic artist Dave Cooper began his career in the 90s. His periodical Weasel won the Ignatz Award and the Harvey Award in 2000, and in 2002, he had a large retrospective of his comicbook artwork in Angouleme and Paris. He is the creator of two original kids television shows, Pig Goat Banana Cricket for Nickelodeon, and The Bagel and Becky Show for Teletoon/BBC. Caryl Lewis is an award-winning novelist and children’s author. She has also written extensively for cinema and television. She has adapted two of her novels for the screen and her drama credits include working on the Welsh Scandi-noir series Hinterland/ Y Gwyll and being a writer and associate producer on the series Hidden/ Craith for BBC 1 Wales/ BBC 4. The second series is currently in production.
