The visual punch of Gotham, the font used in Barack Obama’s US presidential campaign, resonated with his constituents while creating a brand for himself. Steve Jobs understood the power of typography – a pull-down menu of typefaces first appeared in his Macintosh in 1984. How do fonts influence a message? To what extent should the medium be the message?
Winnie Tan graduated in 2009 from the Typography Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. With her background in graphic design and typography, she is currently applying herself in design education. She has received accolades from the likes of Type Directors Club, Slanted (Germany) and Creative Circle Interactive Media Awards Singapore. Sarah and Schooling
An ardent supporter of Singapore’s literary scene, Sarah and Schooling are actively involved in designing books and publications across multiple genres. Their capabilities and experience also cover other creative disciplines such as visual identity and branding, art direction, web design and the conducting of workshops. Notable examples of their work include Singapore Literature Prize winner Joshua Ip’s Making Love with Scrabble Tilesand historically significant titles such as The Collected Poems of Arthur Yap.

Kevin He is the creative director of multi-disciplinary creative agency, Kong. He is a designer whose strengths lie in visual identity, typography, environmental graphic and experiential design, with a forte in the niche market of permanent exhibitions. His works are showcased in public museums, galleries and exhibitions across Singapore, such as the Maritime Experiential Museum, ArtScience Museum and National Gallery Singapore.
