DESCRIPTION

What are some Asian classics that should be recommended readings for a wider audience? Nazry Bahrawi will share excerpts from selected stories that have become obscured from public imagination and examine the challenges in making them more accessible.

Nazry Bahrawi

Singapore

Dr. Nazry Bahrawi is a senior lecturer at Singapore University of Technology and Design specialising in the study of Muslim texts and thoughts along the Indian Ocean. He is a co-founder of the Bras Basah Open collective for critical theory and philosophy in Singapore. He has translated two Malay literary works into English. His most recent longform critique, The Myths of the Lettered Native (2019), on the literary merits of Sejarah Melayu can be accessed here
