DESCRIPTION

The Generation Gap series puts writers and artists across generations in conversation about their art form. In this session, writers Suchen Christine Lim and Daryl Qilin Yam ruminate on what makes the Singapore story. 

FEATURING

Suchen Christine Lim’s work includes The River’s Song, The Man Who Wore His Wife’s Sarong, Fistful Of Colours, A Bit Of Earth, Rice Bowl, and Lies That Build A Marriage.  Inaugural winner of the Singapore Literature Prize, she was awarded the Southeast Asia Write Award in 2012. The River’s Song was chosen “100 Best Books of 2015” by Kirkus Reviews (USA) and was Book of the Month in The Sunday Times.

Daryl Qilin Yam (b. 1991) is a Singaporean writer of fiction and poetry, editor, and arts organiser / producer. His first novel, Kappa Quartet (2016), was longlisted for the inaugural Epigram Books Fiction Prize, while his writing has also appeared in several journals and anthologies worldwide, such as QLRS, Transnational Literature, Berlin Quarterly and the Best New Singaporean Short Stories series. Yam is currently working on his second novel with support from the National Arts Council. He is also a member on the Board of Directors at the literary charity Sing Lit Station.
