Lim Cheng Tju
What is on the horizon for Singapore’s comic book writers? Join Lim Cheng Tju as he surveys the latest works. Veteran James Tan has just completed his new heritage comic on Bukit Brown, Final Resting Place; newcomer Derek Chua is working on more projects via Irrational Comics; and artist Evacomics is coming out with Volume 3 of her adventures in Japan.

Born in Singapore, James Tan has worked as an illustrator, animator and comics artist. He fell in love with the idea of drawing on his travels after getting a handy sketchbook on one of his trips. James has also published children’s books and worked as an illustrator for advertising agencies and publishing companies. In his free time, he likes to go to his local kopi tiam and watch people while sipping his kopi.James Tan is featured in the following SWF event(s):
Derek Chua is a comics artist based in Singapore. Besides working on commissions, he self-publishes via his imprint Irrational Comics.
A comics artist from Singapore, Evangeline Neo has been publishing her own comic series online since 2007, and enjoys a large following on her Facebook page Evacomics. Her debut publication Eva, Kopi and Matcha (2014) depicts and satirises cultural differences between Singapore and Japan, and has been translated into Bahasa Indonesia and Vietnamese. Her second book Eva Goes Solo (2016) documents her experiences adapting to life in Japan, where she lived for some years.Evacomics is featured in the following SWF event(s):
