SÉRA was born in Phnom Penh in 1961, and studied art and the science of art at Sorbonne University. He now teaches and makes art – painting, sculpture, engraving and drawing. He has produced a trilogy of graphic novels about the Cambodian tragedy: Impasse et rouge (1995), L’eau et la terre (2005), and Lendemains de cendres (2007). He runs workshops on writing for comic books at the French Institute in Phnom Penh, as well as workshops focussing on the artistic approach.
