Tham Yew Chin (Pseudonym: You Jin), who graduated from Nanyang University Chinese Studies with honours is a prolific writer who has won many literature awards. Tan was formerly an employee of National Library of Singapore and the Nanyang Siang Pau newspaper. She also lectured at Pioneer Junior College before leaving to concentrate full-time on her writing career.

Her works which have been published in Singapore and other countries such as China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia, number about 140 to date (including essays,novels, travelogues and prose). Her works have been chosen by many Singapore education institutions as recommended reading materials and also used for research by universities.

Yew Chin has just recently been awarded the Cultural Medallion for 2009.

"I love to read biographies because there is much to be learnt from the experience of others, giving me more confidence to face future challenges."
