Chia Hwee Pheng Singapore

Bio
Born in 1957, Hwee Pheng writes under the pseudonym of Xi Ni Er. He has received first prize in the Golden Lion Literary Awards (1982 and 1993), the National Book Development Council of Singapore’s Book Awards (1990 and 1994) and the Singapore Literary Prize (2008). He was conferred Singapore’s Cultural Medallion in 2008 and was the Singapore recepient for the S.E.A Write Award 2009. He has published eight literary books, including The Stretched Credulity (poetry) and The Unbearable Heaviness of Life (mini-fiction). He is currently the president of the Singapore Association of Writers.
