Bio
Isa was conferred the SEA Write Award in Bangkok in 2006, and awarded the Cultural Medallion by the Singapore government in 2007. He has written seven novels, two collections of poetry, a collection of theatre scripts and a collection of short stories. He is known for his bold exploration of controversial yet profound themes in his literary works. Three of his novels have been translated into English, two of which (Intercession and Nadra) will be launched at SWF 2009. His band, Sirrfillsirr, formed with Mohd Khair Mohd Yasin (composer and singer) and T:zi (music director and singer), perform spiritual songs using folk and world music genres.
