Bio
Born in Istanbul in 1960, Perihan Magden is one of the most famous writers in contemporary Turkish literature. Her 2002 novel, Two Girls, achieved great success in her homeland. Translated into 13 languages, the book was adapted into an award-winning movie. She is also the author of Messenger Boy Murders (1991) and The Companion (1994). Her latest hit novel, Escape (2007), will be published in 14 languages between 2009 and 2010. Perihan wrote for the leftist daily, Radikal, for 10 years. Her essays on Turkey are collected under the title, Political Essays (2006).
What book would you like to snuggle under covers with, and why?
"UnderCover I would at best take ALBERTO MORAVİA's TİME of DESECRATİON because it is weirdly obscene. More weird in fact than obscene. It might seem or mislead the untamed as if it is soft porn or pervert but it is just turning the screw around our morality, society whatever there is that engulfs us."
