Graftera

Price: Free
Venue : Film Gallery

Graftera revitalises literary works through the innovative amalgamation of two distinctive art forms – graphic works and sastera (literature). It may also be interpreted as Graffiti Sastera where visual artists explore poems through the architectonic dimensions of graffiti art. This is one of the many contemporary approaches adopted by literary association ASAS ’50 (Angkatan Sasterawan ’50) to create greater and more sustained awareness towards literary art for today’s audiences.

Hello, Singapore Literature

Venue : Gallery, Print Gallery

Curated by BooksActually

This showcase features the collected literary works of Singapore in the English language since the nation’s independence. Extracted from the private library of independent literary bookstore, BooksActually, the books span the genres of poetry, fiction and drama. From post-colonial struggles, nation-building, multi-ethnicity to transnational discourse, the debate of identity is acutely explored in these works.

As a special tribute to SWF 2009’s Literary Pioneer, Emeritus Professor Edwin Thumboo, this exhibition offers peeks into his younger days and uncovers the more informal, lesser-known side of the much-respected academic, activist and poet extraordinaire.
